Professor Jaime
is a 3rd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) under Vinicius “Draculino” Magalhaes, a Masters World Champion, and a respected leader in the BJJ community. He is the owner and head instructor of Gracie Barra Lake Charles and co-owns Gracie Barra Moss Bluff with the Coach Cynthia Davis.
Together they created the most successful schools of Martial Arts in SWLA.

Professor Jaime has dedicated over a decade to growing the sport and sharing his passion with students of all ages. Known for his technical expertise and approachable teaching style, Professor Jaime leads both kids’ and adults’ classes, inspiring students to reach their full potential on and off the mats. His commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive training environment has made his schools a cornerstone of the community.

With years of competitive success and a wealth of knowledge, Professor Jaime is not only a skilled practitioner but also a mentor who empowers his students to achieve their goals, whether they aim to compete, build confidence, or simply enjoy the journey of learning BJJ. His vision and leadership have played a pivotal role in establishing a thriving positive BJJ culture in the community.

Jaime takes pride in spreading the knowledge of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to anyone interested, hoping it will bring them as much happiness and fulfillment in their life as it has for him.

Along with Jiu Jitsu, Jaime is a strong proponent of education. After dropping out of High School, Jaime received a GED from Arizona Education Department. Jaime returned to college in 2002, and graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a BBA in Accounting. Later, Jaime received his Master for Business Administration (MBA) from McNeese State University in 2009. He speaks Engish, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Regional Director Coach Cynthia is a passionate and dedicated leader in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) community, overseeing the development and growth of two thriving school locations. As a coach for both kids’ and adults’ classes, she works tirelessly to create a cohesive and supportive environment across both schools, ensuring every student feels welcome and empowered.

Coach Cynthia’s journey in BJJ is a truly inspiring story. Cynthia began as a mother watching her daughter’s train. Inspired by their enthusiasm, she stepped onto the mats herself, and from that moment, she never looked back. After becoming an exceptional student, training six days a week, she started teaching classes. This led her to becoming a Jiu Jitsu competitor that helped her overcome severe anxiety. With her commitment to Jiu Jitsu she partnered up with Professor Jaime to bring Gracie Barra to the Moss Bluff Community as a school owner. Furthermore, she has many more goals for her Jiu Jitsu career.

With experience competing in tournaments, Coach Cynthia brings a unique perspective to her teaching, emphasizing both technical excellence and the personal confidence that BJJ builds. She is also a driving force behind the growth of the women’s program, inspiring and supporting women to discover their strength and potential through the art.

In addition to her coaching, Coach Cynthia continues to educate herself in the her knowledge and enhance her ability to lead and grow the schools she so passionately supports. Her dedication, vision, and genuine care for her students make her an invaluable part of the BJJ community.

Coach William “Sleepy” is a dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) purple belt with an impressive competitive resume and a passion for teaching. A NOGI World Champion and NOGI Pan American Champion, Coach Will has established himself as a formidable force on the mats. His nickname, "Sleepy," reflects his calm and composed demeanor, both as a competitor and as a coach.

With years of experience in the art of BJJ, Coach Will teaches and coaches both kids’ and adults’ classes, creating an engaging and supportive environment for students of all levels. Known for his technical precision he excels in breaking down complex techniques and tailoring his coaching to meet each student's unique needs.

Whether fostering confidence in young beginners or refining skills for seasoned practitioners, Coach Will is committed to helping his students achieve their goals. His love for the sport and his unwavering dedication make him a respected competitor and coach.


Tournament Coordinator, Carol Jo Shultz

Carol Jo started her Jiu Jitsu journey in 2020. She had sat on the bleachers for a year, watching her younger son train in GBK, before she, her husband and older son started training. Training was a way to stay physically active and something she could do with her family. She did not know she would gain a new Jiu jitsu family that she enjoys supporting as the Tournament Coordinator.
